It has been a couple of crazy weeks, getting ready for art fairs and gallery shows, AND, my trip to San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato, Mexico with my bestest art buddies for workshops with Katie Kendrick and Judy Wise!!! ATC's had to be made, an individualized name tag was created, art materials were collected and packed, and many hours were not spent sleeping.
Two nights ago I finished my shrine art piece for the Day of the Dead show at Guardino Gallery in Portland. It had to be finished BEFORE the trip. Let me see if I can post the photo... It includes four of my handmade dolls, handmade tiles, handmade skull, upcycled desk drawer and mantel clock - I'm happy with how it turned out, and it got me very much in the mood for my visit to Mexico!
This morning Sally, Diane, Janet and I had to wake up in the wee hours of the night to get ourselves to the airport for our early flight. I should mention that my dear Robbie also had to get up early to take me to the airport - thanks, Sweetie! The flights were fine but seemed so LOOOOONG, just because I was so sleep deprived. But upon arrival at the airport in Leon, I came back to life thanks to the beauty along the route and our wonderful taxi driver Polo who was a perfect tour guide for us, telling about the sights along the way and filling us in on Mexican history.
We have arrived at Casa Carmen - it is FABULOSA!!! I ran around with my camera dancing with joy! I know I am going to have un viaje magnifico here in San Miguel!Photos!
