This past weekend Rob and I were attending our booth at the Lake Oswego Art in the Park art fair. Beautiful weather Friday and Saturday, not so much on Sunday, but all in all it was my best show yet! I have to thank the wonderful art patrons who helped to make it such a great show, and one dear friend in particular (you know who you are!).
I got to see Janet three days in a row as she made her rounds, and even helped out in the booth! Both she and Rob are setting great examples of how I should be talking it up with customers. Every now and then I feel that brave and comfortable talking with customers, but it's still a stretch for me.
The night before the show opened I worked until 4 a.m. finishing up Marie Antoinette. I think I procrastinated on finishing her because I had a vision for how I wanted her costume to turn out, but I wasn't sure I could pull off. I have to say, I am very pleased with her! She is very charming indeed! She is a VERY tall doll - I think almost 4 feet tall! As some doll aficionados noticed, she resembles the old boudoir bed dolls of long ago. I will try to get some good fashion photos of her soon. In the meantime, here are some candid shots.
On a sad note, my dearly beloved Alice in Wonderland doll sold. I know that is actually a good thing, and she has gone to a wonderful new home, but I miss her! I had to pull out photos of her just moments after she went away.
During the lulls of the weekend in the booth I worked on my new ballerina series. Quite the opposite of Marie Antoinette, these are very small, delicate dolls. I look forward to having the bunch of them finished in all their different colored tutus!
This week I am busy with the summer program in which I teach. I will be trying to squeeze in studio time so that I will be ready for the next art fair: Art and the Vineyard in Eugene, Oregon, July 4-6.
Hasta luego!

A close up of Marie Antoinette. A little bling in her eyes? Mais oui! But of course! |
