Dear oh dear! I flit from one activity to the next with nary a moment to post about it. I keep thinking I will become a more regular blogger - I really mean to be and know that I should, but...
Ok, so last month I did the Lake Oswego Arts Festival - my first outdoor show in 20+ years. It went alright. It did rain and attendance was down according to all the art festival regulars, but I still had lots of fun. Rob and I did a fair share of talking to the veterans of art fairs, soaking up all the info we could. I think I have some photos of how my booth looked, somewhere here... ah yes, here we go:

This girl was my newest doll. She made her debut at this show.

Her name is Sangmu - a Tibetan girl's name which means "Kind-hearted One." Is it wrong for me to be in love with my own dollies? This one really tugs at my heart.
Also making their debuts were my first two doll assemblages:

And Mean Teacher. She's also been a long time in the making. The doll originally had a different outfit, but this new one suits her prim strictness better. Watch out for her stick!

Finally, I needed to make a new name tag for the summer school/day camp I teach in. I usually make each year's tag from the slice of tree branch that everyone else uses, but this year I decided to go dollie. I was enchanted by Sunshine Lemonade girl's proportions, so I wanted to make another small doll like her. Here is my Twilight name tag:

If you are wondering how this is a name tag, you need to look closely at her apron. It reads: "Hi, my name is Twilight. I love AASK." I used my new old typewriter that my brother found for me in our mom's attic. So much fun to type with an oldie like that! Here's a close up of dollie's face:

Hmm, I think it might be the goat hair that makes me love these dollies so. [Disclaimer about my camp name: I have been doing this summer camp since about 2002 or 2003, BEFORE the Twilight books came out! My name is based on the time of evening, the time between day and night when the sunlight and stars intermingle, and turquoise melts into Prussian blue - my favorite time of day.]
I am having fun with this summer group of kids. It's the first time I've worked with 5th and 6th graders since my student teaching and substitute teaching days. This experience is SOOOO much better than my subbing experience!
Well, I have my second ukulele lesson tomorrow, so I must be off to practice now! Keep busy!
